Myles Smith
Meet Myles Smith, DIY phenom extraordinaire.
The singer-songwriter from Luton – a guitar player from the age of nine – is a passionate studier of the craft of composition, and his skills with a relatable lyric and earworm melody have already earned him over 700 million global streams and a massive online following.
And while the 26-year-old is a solo artist in the truest sense, he’s also solo in the thoroughly modern way. A university graduate with a diversity, equality and inclusion business start-up under his belt, Myles is unashamedly business-savvy in how he protects and projects his music, and is backed by a worldwide army of listeners on his team. Their allegiance and ardour have been built the old-fashioned way: through the power of song, albeit fast-tracked by the lightning-speed power of intense social media fandom.
Recalling his first posts on TikTok and Instagram in the distant days of 2022, he admits that “it wasn’t necessarily to grow or build an audience. It was just that I loved music, and I just wanted to put stuff out onto a platform. Everyone around me was telling me this was the best use of my time, rather than the traditional methods of gigging in pubs and clubs until someone important ends up in then room! I’d been doing open mic nights and playing to anyone who would listen since I was 12 years old. It enabled me to learn my craft, and why I can write, record and play live the way I do now. But it was time for a different approach.”
His Debut EP ‘You Promised A Lifetime’ was released in March this year and instantly presents half an album’s worth of songs, six tracks written and recorded in Los Angeles in less than a week last year. Even the EP’s title offers something very, well, Myles.
His most recent single ‘Stargazing’ has proven his global appeal, approaching 400 million global streams to date, hit #1 airplay in the UK, Germany and hit #1 on the Belgian single charts as well as Top 5 in the UK. This year, Myles has also graced the stage on Later… with Jools Holland, The Today Show (US) as well as making his debuts at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, Glastonbury festival and Austin City Limits.
Meet Myles Smith: the most exceptional new star of 2024.
