Godwin Josiah simply known as Godwin is a multifaceted creative with interests in music and film, starting as a filmmaker alongside his cousins with whom he founded the Variety-endorsed film collective, The Critics Company, in 2015.

Godwin has directed a film in collaboration with Morgan Freeman’s production company, Revelation Entertainment and has been enriched by the mentorship of distinguished filmmakers including JJ Abrams, Taika Waititi, and Kemi Adetiba.

Hailing from the often-overlooked city of Kaduna, Godwin brings an authentic energy to the scene, fusing his rich cultural influences as well as deep emotional experiences into a unique mélange of sound. His music, deeply connected to visual arts, draws inspiration from diverse genres like Soul, R&B, and Afrobeat. His influences include Labbi Siffre, Aretha Franklin and Labrinth.

In the realm of music, Godwin stands apart as a gifted artist crafting soulful tunes that defy the expectations often tied to Nigerian artists with the prevalence of Afrobeats. Godwin’s musical proposition ventures into uncharted territories, offering a refreshing departure from the anticipated norm in the global music scene. His artistic journey reflects the dynamic and ever-evolving nature of Nigerian music, and with his debut EP ‘Road to Nirvana’ Godwin’s music is more than a collection of songs; it’s an anthology of shared experiences, a reflection of the human spirit’s resilience, and an eternal call to embrace the journey with open hearts and open ears.

With the release of his latest single ‘Abeke’, Godwin continues to engage, enchant and inspire, merging his passion for storytelling with the emotive power of his unique tone.
